ME

This is my story of dedication (for getting into my dream school), belief (in God), courage (to regain the confidence I have lost), and hope (in eventually, finding my Romeo). Let's see how it all works out.

since when did jew = muslim = terrorist

"Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection..." -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
I understand, and blatantly agree, that a bystander in an act of bullying becomes the bully him/herself. By saying nothing...but just walking away, it connotates the acceptance of what's being happened. Yesterday, I guess I had a moral duty to stand up for what I believed in. Well, I was the chicken...and thus my blog has become my escape (from vengeance) once again.
Let me recall the little incident that occurred on the bus. I, annoyed by the inundation of inane people on my bus, tend to sit by my self, listening to my iPod, looking out the window. Well. Yesterday, a girl on my bus...a "friend" I am considered to her, decided to ride the bus (which she'll ensue doing for the next month) and well, talk to me.
I know it probably seems like I'm a recluse. I'm a loner. Well, not exactly true. I can act like one when I specifically don't want to be around certain people. Unfortunately, that girl never got my incessant signals.
We talked about random stuff. It was mostly her babbling about her life and blah, blah, blah and me just nodding, laughing, or smiling, while, in essence my music was deluging her voice. Soon, the girl tapped the boy right in front of her, and through some sort of mismatching and crazy storytelling, she blatantly stated that "Being a Jew was like being a Muslim."
The boy, a little nervous, dumbfounded her and replied back, "Well, I am a Muslim..."
He trailed off.
The girl stuttered and through her lack of sense simply blurt out, "Well, that's as bad as being a terrorist. Yes, a terrorist. Are you one?"
Quite frankly, I don't know if she was joking or if she was dead serious. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I would bet you $100 she was serious.
The boy was naive, young, and had no idea how to answer the God-damned question. He just smiled and turned around, leaving the question in the air.
I, having the perfect opportunity to blurt out the stupidity of her statement, chose to remain quiet. What the hell was I thinking?
I was disgusted by the fact that nowadays, Muslims were considered terrorists. I comprehend the fact that yes, there are bad Muslims who have made reckless decisions...but they are facing their penalty. Just because one Muslim did something bad did not mean that every Muslim was bad. If that's what the world believes, then what bull crap. There are many Christians that perform awful things in the name of God; there are many Hindus that make careless mistakes; there are many Buddhists who slip up as well.
But why should we just stereotype everyone for the worse?
Because, honestly, there are a lot of good Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, and Muslims out there in the world. People are people. They should be judged on their characteristics: the way they greet you. the way they help you pick up your trash. the way they laugh with you.
I am just furious at the narrowmindness of these people. The worst thing? The girl didn't even notice any harm in her question. The worst, worst thing? Her parents and friends are probably the same way.

And the worst, worst, worst thing? I wrote this blog post to describe my animosity towards stereotyping whereas I did the same thing at the end.

.
When does the world end? Because, honestly, we all need a reality check.
